These are the early stages in the development of a new series.
I want the viewer to experience and feel that we are more and at the same time less than what we think we are. What we consider to be obvious may in this imagery not be as obvious as we think. The thought I want to bring forward is: What we see and proclaim to be reality is not necessarily what is intuitively felt. These paintings are like dreams that reflect what is normally unseen while at the same time tell us something about who we are and why we are. These are the metaphorical mirrors of our existence. It is not so much about a particular technique that is used but more importantly the visualization that makes this world accessible. I have made the subject matter in my work partially transparent while at the same time using various vanishing points. This is how the viewer can enter a realm of 'infinite possibilities'; Furthermore, it is my visual interpretation of the forces that are invisible. I try to capture this energy that we feel passing through, in and around us. The elements are, therefore, not static - they float, interact, overlap and are fused together. Geometric shapes are penetrating a landscape, space, still-life, or figure. Forms are segmented, chopped up however still relating to each other. In my work I want to show the substructure of the universe and the mysticism that is interwoven with life by depicting the relationship between an object and the surrounding space.

An interaction between Drawings and Poems -
The poems are a selection of writings I have made over a course of ten years, which I have combined with new ink drawings to go alongside it. The poems are typed on an old ‘Hermes’ dating back to 1933 on semi transparent chalk paper. The drawings and poems have been affixed to the lids of weathered ‘SBB’ train boxes, which I have cut in half prior to usage. During the exhibition in the Phartrotte the wooden panels were hung on large chains and a variation of white candles were places on center table to intensify and dramatize the atmosphere. All these elements combined served to accentuate the rawness of emotion expressed in the poems and drawings.Hier klikken om te bewerken.
